Posted by Gabrielle Senza on February 23, 2018 at 0:36 0 Comments

I just came across Denis Beaubois, an Australian multidisciplinary artist whose work, Currency - Division of Labor might be of interest to researchers here.

It is a series of video/performance works that use the division of labor model in capitalism as a structural tool for performance.

From his website:

The Division of labour work explores…

I think it would be a good idea if we started compiling a bibliography of sources dedicated to exploring Adorno's thoughts on/for performance. Please add any and all sources, in whatever language, so that we can get a glimpse of this sub-field. Thanks.

I have published one article on the topic: Daddario, Will. "From Pseudo-Activity to Critique: Adorno, Philosophy, Participation." Performance Research 16.4 (2011): 124-135.

Great title, I'll seek that out. I've posted notes about an essay I published in 2007, but is it easier to set up a mini bibliography on Adorno and performance in the main bibliography for this site?

My preference would be to compile titles here and then, once the bibliography is fleshed out a bit, we paste the entire thing on the main bibliography site. Is that ok? What's the citation info for your 2007 essay?

Hi there: here are some of efforts, all of which have Adorno angles in them.

Drew Milne, "Theatre as communicative action: Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed", Comparative Criticism, 14 (1992), 111-134.

I'm so excited to find this page, this group and especially your articles... I'm very much looking forward to reading them! I published a book on Adorno and theatre some weeks ago. Unfortunately it's in German... But anyway: Nowak, Anja. Elemente einer Ästhetik des Theatralen in Adornos Ästhetischer Theorie. Würzburg: Königshausen & Neumann, 2012.

Thanks, Anja. I'm excited to see that you've joined this group!

Hi Will,

please take a look at my page at <worldwideweb dot unesp dot academia dot edu/fmc/> where you can find the link to my doctoral thesis on Adorno's Theory of Musical Reproduction [2010], added together with some papers of my performance research - unfortunately all of them in [Brazilian] portuguese. Regards, Frank.
