Gray Kochhar-Lindgren, Professor and Director of the Common Core at the University of Hong Kong, is holding lectures and workshops at the Academy of Dramatic Art, University of Zagreb from 9th to 13th of March 2016. The workshops are organised within the framework of Professor Sibila Petlevski's art & science project supported by the Croatian Science Foundation.

WORKSHOP: 

Visuality and Writing-in-Motion: The Arts, Philosophy, Science

Workshop with BA and MA students. Participants should bring pen and paper, colored index cards, if possible, and a paragraph of their own writing, and an image of some sort.

This workshop will start with the students’ own work—their writing and an image of their choice—and move outwards and across toward the multiple meanings of writing-in-motion. This includes questions of individual style and genre expectations; how image and text interweave with one another; and how these criss-cross disciplinary methods in science, the arts, and the humanities. By the conclusion of each workshop, the students will have played with possibility, deepened their own sense of their own “writing-in-motion,” and begun to develop a transdisciplinary project with partners in the room and beyond.

WORKSHOP: 

And+And+And+: Elaborating TransDisciplinary Conjunctions (accompanied by Deleuze and Serres)

Ideally for MA students and doctoral students, but BA students, could join, if interested. Participants should bring a paragraph of their own writing. 

In this workshop we will start with the students’ own work and explore how it might most usefully and creatively unfold toward the And+ of TransDisciplinarity, both locally and globally. In relation to these movements, we will ask about the structure of the emerging global university and how students would most like their lives to intersect with cross-disciplinary projects based on different interests and in different regions of the world. Throughout our explorations, we will be accompanied by the rhythmic beats of Gilles Deleuze (The Logic of Sense) and Michel Serres (Parasite, Thumbelina).
