Event Description

The Symposium will take place during the V Conference of the Colombian Society of Philosophy SCF, organized by the Industrial University of Santander, in Bucaramanga (Colombia). August 15-18, 2018.

The second Performance Philosophy Symposium seeks to give continuity to the first meeting, which took place in Barranquilla in 2016, and also seeks to create bases for the consolidation of the Colombian chapter of the Philosophy of Performance. The second Symposium invites to identify and discuss particular cases of encounters, dialogues, and imbrications between philosophy and performance,  in line with the idea of philosophy as performative (Cull 2014, Salcido 2016), and the idea of performance as a way of thinking and as philosophical and research act. In this order of ideas, 'performance philosophy' does not simply denote a philosophy that takes performance as a theme or object, but rather one that emerges from performance and with which it assumes a close relationship. The symposium proposes to take the body as a place for fundamental and immanent possibility of difference (Deleuze 1994), and invites to think resistance, dissidence and incidence (Subirats 2005) in the face of visual, corporal, affective, and discursive regimes in contemporary life and (life, visual, theatrical, etc.) arts.

Speakers will have between 30 and 35 minutes for their presentation, which will be followed by of 10 to 15 minutes Q&A session. Those interested in participating as speakers should send a message and attach two files with following information, to Juan Guerrero (simposiofilperformance@gmail.com). Please, make sure to write "II Performance Philosophy Symposium" in the subject. In case you have any question, do not hesitate to contact Mr. Guerrero before February 20th. Official languages are Spanish and English.
