Theatre, Performance and Philosophy Working Group : Call for Papers

The co-convenors are delighted to issue a call for papers for the forthcoming conference at the University of Bristol in September on any topic exploring the relation of theatre, dance or performance to philosophy.  The working group’s mission is to encourage interdisciplinary debates addressing any aspect of philosophical research into the area of theatre and performance – deriving either from a continental perspective, or coming from within the analytical tradition.

This year, the convenors welcome in particular panel proposals around notions such as migration, exile, displacement, nationalism or what Benedict Anderson described as “imagined communities”. We also invite individual contributions that engage with the new ‘field’ of performance philosophy. Contributions might be in the form of ten-minute provocations, twenty-minute papers or twenty-minute performance-papers.

If you would like to join us, please send 250 word (max) proposals with brief biography and resource needs to Kélina Gotman – [e-mail] and Fred Dalmasso – [e-mail] by 18^th April 2016.  We will let you know by 15th May whether or not your proposal has been accepted.

Only one proposal may be submitted for the TaPRA 2016 Conference at the University of Bristol. It is not permitted to submit multiple proposals or submit the same proposal to several Calls for Papers. All presenters must be TaPRA members, i.e. registered for the conference; this includes presentations given by Skype or other media broadcast even where the presenter may not physically attend the conference venue. If your paper has been accepted, yet you have not registered for the Conference by the final registration deadline of 8^th August 2016, we will deem you no longer intend to participate and present at TaPRA 2016.
