ContinueProposal for Doctoral Research:
This research investigates the relationship between creative emergence and impossibility in and through collaborative performance making. It draws on the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and associated process philosophies, as well as grounding this theory in performance-based research. The performance laboratory uses Expressive Arts (ExA) methodology and the researcher's experience of working in this field. ExA brings to the field of Performance Philosophy techniques that facilitate the two-way dialog between theory and practice, generating ideas grounded in experience that articulate with the existing knowledge field. The researcher aims to demonstrate a remarkable fit between the thought of Deleuze and ExA practice in order to contribute to understanding about the psychological and social nature of research and the generation of knowledge. Findings would bring new methodological possibilities to Performance Philosophy, insights to Deleuze Studies, and contribute new knowledge to understandings of creativity and collaborative practices in Theatre and Performance Studies and beyond.
