Aberystwyth Performance

Live Art in Rural Wales

Hello, I've been wary of posting/commenting, but I figured this is, perhaps, an interesting place to talk, as a group, and perhaps discussing where we are is a good place to start?

For those of you from/accustomed to Aberystwyth, which places have you found particularly interesting to work in? Where have you discovered audiences, or other live artists?

For those of you new to Aberystwyth, what are your feelings about the performance 'scene' here so far? Where are you interested in exploring/making/doing/performing actions?

I've attached an image of a place I love, I'm planning a drive-by performance here soon...

Much cariad,

Jess

That was in first year, wasn't it? Was the walk part of the work? What else did you do there, how did you explore the place?

My Mum got married in that church-a tiny piece of local history right there, and probably the only time I've ever in my life worn a dress (so for me, the place resonates with bad memories...!).

I agree, but how do you go about making the past present?

I'm not sure if a drive-by performance is an actual term, but it's how I've always experienced the Elvis rock (on long drives home to Aberystwyth), and its how I imagine people will experience the performance (if and when it happens). It's an uncanny landmark, we point it out as a sign we're nearly home, but also to remark, over and over again, how very strange it is.

    Hey there,

I am not quite sure how often this site is actually used - I find it a bit difficult to keep it up because I am so much involved with this facebook stuff and used to it. But I'll give it a try and just wanted to say that I am really interested in doing some Land or Live Art in Aberystwyth together with other creative people.

I am from Germany and I've only just discovered Aber a bit, because I am here since one month now. The Elvis stone looks pretty nice! :)

I really like the far end of the harbour with all these wood panels and the benches. (The blue ones!)

    Best wishes!
