I just came across Denis Beaubois, an Australian multidisciplinary artist whose work, Currency - Division of Labor might be of interest to researchers here.
It is a series of video/performance works that use the division of labor model in capitalism as a structural tool for performance.
From his website:
The Division of labour work explores…
ContinueHi.
Hopefully all is well!
The shorty is a suggestion to start an online conversation group to elaborate questions from the
Covid-19 oriented period and Performance Philosophy?
eg. Intra-Active Virome? (covid-19 and a few karen barad linked questions, is something i thought may be cool to begin with.)
However, before the When/How questions -
anyone here consider this possibly interesting and relevant???
Perhaps some meetings with altering over-all topics? (Viromatic meetings, one may say..?)
Any ideas?
Cheers!

Hello Aha,
interesting suggestion. intra-action is sth i relate to, and I was just reading up on the human virome and proviruses (although wikipedia really is not to be trusted as an unbiased source of information especially with regard to COVID19 and heavy WHO lobbying). how are you thinking of this in relation to performance?
and what is your plain name btw?
Ingrid
Hello Ingrid,
Hope this finds you well!
Virus and performance?
The general view that, I think, seems to offer a performative take, perspective, on virome and how the viruses have frictions with bodies they come to inhabit may allow slightly less common and possibly not entirely comfortable notions.
Technically, a virus such as Covid-19, looks like something the some of our cells recognise as welcomed. That Look, a shape that seems to fit one may say, is the ticket of the virus in.
Like a lover that seems initially to tick all the right boxes, only later to be found empty of any recognisable loving content? The virus gets to be allowed in since they seem to *perform* the shape a host cell requires.
However, the performance, the activities of viruses may take time to adapt and learn how to do the performance their host cells require. Hence the viruses tend to evolve rapidly. That is what helps the whole virome to be fairly essential to life as we know. The virome performs a horizonal genetic transmissions which offer surprising, unpredictability in adaptations, mutations and symbiosis.
The performance is also reciprocal by the host - how the cells that host a virus, may perform to begin with.
Is this an offer to, for example, consider human performativity with audiences - as a friction between virus and host?
In this particular case, the suggestion was to possibly consider from a particular way of thinking of frictions, that of intra-action.
The performative intra-action between covid19 and cells to begin with - however allow the topic to go beyond the human orientation? How covid19 intra-act with, for example, the memory of bats, or the blueness of the sky?
Any thoughts?
Cheers!
(Yes, thanks for asking. My name a bit different. It's - ahanon, aha for short.)
