"Hi Performance Philosophy friends! New research on dancers' consciousness - enjoy! https://rdcu.be/chV6R"
Apr 12, 2021

Profile Information

Institution (if affiliated)
Independent researcher
Research Interests
Phenomenology, embodied cognition, dance, bodily and affective consciousness in dance and performance as such, as well as in art in general

After having worked with dance, physical theatre and singing for about twenty-five years, I took a masters degree in philosophy at the University of Copenhagen.

My thesis was about bodily and affective "high-order" levels of consciousness used in the creation and performance of dance - calling the state "embodied reflection".

The next years I travelled the world to discuss this idea of a bodily reflective level of consciousness, and presented my work at philosophical conferences.

Today I write an independent doctoral dissertation (through this arrangement: https://www.uio.no/english/research/phd/drphilos/) to develop this work on consciousness.

Parallel with the doctorate I lecture philosophy at various institutions, such as The Danish National School of Performing Arts, BA i Dansekunst og Koreografi (Oslo), Østfold University College (Fredrikstad) and other.

Here's my website for that aspect of my work: https://camillebuttingsrud.weebly.com/

And here's my academic site: https://ku-dk.academia.edu/CamilleButtingsrud

Don't hesitate to get in touch!

Love, Camille.
