Dear Michael,
sorry, I could not respond right away - teaching time. I'm not sure whether there is a special branch of philosophy that deals with the exilic condition per se. Various people who experienced this condition - poets, artists, some thinkers - did write about it. Perhaps, Heidegger can be taken into consideration with his own views for the need of homecoming, although of course his political alliances are not that easy to agree with. I think I am interested in all aspects of displacement (in space and time) and how this condition influences one's sense of self as well as how this condition frames the exilic artists' work. I published a book on this subject but I do not think I resolved any of these issues and hence would like to continue thinking about them. I would be curious to know how you work through the philosophical frames in your own research. Yana
Hello Michael,
My professional interests in theatre theory that also branch out into philosophy brought me here; specifically some readings of Benjamin that I did recently. My ongoing research is on theatre and exile, so I do use certain philosophical ideas to discuss this condition and its representation on stage

Hello Michael,
I just joined this group and found out that we live in the same city. Is it possible we work in the same university? I work for the University of Ottawa, Department of Theatre. How about you? Yana Meerzon
